HERO ALERT

Western Lakes Fire Department honors Elijah Lenling, 7th grader at North Lake School, and described him as “A quick thinking young hero who proved that bravery comes in all sizes.”  Elijah kept his family safe in the threat of a potential fire and put into practice his fire safety education.  Elijah’s response is exactly what fire safety experts hope for in a fire emergency.

STAYING ALIVE

North Lake School District’s nurse, Beth Gatzow, recently taught CPR to 7th graders as part of the Health curriculum.  Students enjoyed hands-on practice with the mannequins named Mini Anne and learned how to operate the AED machines.

Kindness Club

Hello North Lake Families!

Happy Holidays to all of you! As the school year pauses, I hope you and your family enjoy some well-deserved, relaxing family time. This season is a wonderful opportunity for a slower pace and meaningful connection with those you love.

We are always focused on nurturing the whole child. Building strong relationships with peers and adults is an important part of developing resiliency and self-confidence in our students.

Here at school, I try to create opportunities to foster these connections through things like leadership group activities, lunch bunches and working together for a common goal in the classroom.

A recent, wonderful example of this was the 3rd Grade Game Day, hosted by our very own “Kindness Club.”   Students learned new games, practiced good sportsmanship and developed leadership skills while having fun!

I look forward to continuing these valuable relationship-building initiatives in the new year.  If you would like me to work on connections with your child, please let me know.  There are a lot of ways that we can do that in a fun way.

As always, please let me know if there are any ways that I can support your child!

Take care-

Jill Lesch
