TRANSPORTATION UPDATE

Great news!  As you may know, North Lake School participates in an Arrowhead Area cooperative agreement for student transportation through Dousman Transport.  The great news is that North Lake School will remain in tier 1 for bussing service for the 2026-2027 school year.  There should not be significant disruption to bus route times, and the school schedule will remain the same for next year.  As a reminder, school start time is 7:25 a.m. and dismissal time is 2:30 p.m.

DROP OFF – PICK UP REMINDERS!

Option 1: The Quick-Drop Line (Stay in Vehicle)

This is the most efficient way to drop off your child.

  • Pull Forward:  Drive as far forward as possible toward the front of the line towards the last green cone and don’t leave large gaps between cars.  This prevents traffic backups on the main road.

  • Safety First:  Students should exit the vehicle quickly from the passenger side only directly onto the sidewalk.

Option 2: Park & Walk

If your child needs extra time or you prefer to walk them to the entrance:

  • Park in Parking Lot

Escort Required:  You must walk your child across the parking lot.  Please try to cross by the speed bump, where a crossing guard is positioned.

Forensics Win!

Forensics meet image

North Lake Forensics students delivered a strong performance at their final tournament, held at Audubon Communication and Technology Middle School in Milwaukee on Friday, March 8.  Twelve of the team’s thirteen students competed, bringing home medals, blue ribbons and a trophy for the large school category.  Their hard work, teamwork, and dedication truly paid off.  Next, the Lakers head to the state tournament on March 21 at Brookfield Central.

Way to go, Lakers!

A Note from Ms. Meister...

Spring Flowers

Looking FORWARD and ahead to Spring!

North Lake Students in Grades 3-8 will be participating in the Wisconsin FORWARD Exam assessment during the statewide testing window, March 16th to April 24th.

Grade level classroom teachers will share the exact schedule with their students and families.

The assessment tests students in the areas of English/Language Arts and Mathematics. Students in grades 4 and 8 will also be assessed in the areas of Science and Social Studies. One or more subtests may be administered during the identified time frame and it is very important that your son or daughter be in school during this time. Students not in school on the scheduled testing days will be scheduled for a make-up test prior to the close of the testing window.

The assessments measure the knowledge and skills your student(s) should have acquired by the time they reach each grade level. Their performance on the assessment will not affect any of their current grades. Please encourage your son or daughter to take the test seriously and do the best they can.

The Informational Brochure for Families gives more information about the assessment including its purpose, what scores will be provided, and how the scores will be used.

The Leadership team will help kick off testing for each grade level by providing each student with a healthy brain food snack. Thank you student leaders!

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s classroom teacher/s or

Counseling Corner

Hello North Lake Families!

I am a strong believer in the power of giving back to our community.   I believe this is so important for our young people to experience and we often see the best of them when they are engaging in helping others.

Junior Achievement says that volunteerism for youth and teens has the following benefits:

  • Developing valuable skills like leadership, team work, problem solving and communication
  • Boosting mental and emotional well being by increasing happiness, providing stress relief and building social connections
  • Building important character traits like social responsibility, compassion and empathy

Here are two resources that might help you and your family get involved together!

Doing Good Together – ideas for service projects you could do as a family on your own

Kids Impact Community – a locally based organization with volunteer opportunities

Our 8th graders had some recent opportunities to reach out to our school community by partnering with our kindergarten classes and also our larger community by attending the “Basketball and Brats” event at Journey 21.  Here are some highlights!

As always, please let me know if there are any ways that I can support your child!

Take care-

Jill Lesch
