Dr. Ackley’s Message . . .
NLS – HOME OF WRESTLING
AMSAC (Arrowhead Middle School Athletic Conference) joined MAC (Milwaukee Area Conference Wrestling). Wrestling will be offered to girls and boys, grades 6-8. The season will start January 4 – March 6 2027. All practices will be held at North Lake School. Students will register and pay the student athletic fee just like volleyball and basketball.
FIELD DAY & FAMILY PICNIC REMINDERS
The rising 8th graders are hosting an all school field day on Thursday, June 4th from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thank you Mrs. Wagner for your leadership and organization of this event.
The last day of school is Friday, June 5th and culminates with the Family Picnic. Join us at 11:00 a.m. with all grades K-8. K-4th grade parents, please pick up your child at their classroom before joining the lunch line.
It is a North Lake tradition to take your children home following the picnic. Please indicate your plans to your classroom teachers. Keep in mind, it is still technically a full day of school so there will be afternoon bus service if needed.
GROSCH RETIREMENT
Congratulations to Judy Grosch as she sets sail on her retirement. Mrs. Grosch has served students OT needs for 38 years. Her position will be tricky to fill because the work is extremely specialized. Finally, North Lake partners with several other districts to secure OT services and pooling resources will help to fill the void.
Please wish Mrs. Grosch GOOD LUCK!
END OF YEAR – STUDENT MEDICATIONS
Parents, please remember to pick up your child’s medication on file in the health room by Friday, June 5th.
NLS GREETER
Would you like to be more involved on a daily basis at North Lake School? If so, please consider being a volunteer greeter at Door A from 7:45-8:45 a.m. and/or 11:00-12:00 p.m. for the 2026-27 school year. This volunteer opportunity includes visitor check-in, general information station, and welcome ambassador of our Great K-8!

Note from Ms. Meister...
It’s that time of year and so it’s no surprise that summertime is on everyone’s mind. Students have worked hard this year to gain grade level knowledge and skills. The lazy days of summer are the perfect time to keep reading skills strong and continue to build vocabulary. Fiction or non-fiction, whatever area of interest, Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, Art Music, Phy. Ed there is always something to read and enjoy.
Our cooperating partner, the Town Hall Library, invites all our North Lake School families to participate in their summer reading program.
Stop by, sign up. More information can be found here: http://www.townhalllibrary.org/
Counseling Corner
Hello North Lake Families!
It is hard to believe we are winding down another year! I hope that you will enjoy some quality family time together this summer building connections and memories.
There are a few things I want to share with you:
- Leadership Opportunity: 4th – 7th grade students had the opportunity in the last few weeks to sign up to be a part of the Leadership Group next year. This is a group that provides real time leadership skill development as we provide service to our school community, facilitate school spirit opportunities and give feedback about school issues. We are planning to have a Leadership Retreat in August and I will send interested students an invitation once details are ironed out. During the school year we typically have weekly meetings. Let me know if you have any questions about this!
- Media balance: How will your kids spend their time this summer? We had conversations in classrooms recently about balancing online and offline time. Here’s a media agreement from Common Sense Media you could use for the summer!
- Spreading kindness: I’m a big believer in the power of doing good for others. It’s a gift to both the giver and the receiver. Here are some ideas for you from Doing Good Together.
As always, please continue to let me know if you’d like any more support for your child throughout the remainder of the year or looking into next year. Enjoy your summer!
