STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK
North Lake School Staff Appreciation Week was a wonderful success! Thank you to Kellyn Bleck and her team of volunteers for bringing a fresh, colorful approach to a North Lake tradition.

HAPPY 110TH BIRTHDAY
Mrs. Lyons and her 8th grade art students created a bold school portrait to commemorate North Lake’s 110th birthday. Please look for the painting to be installed across from the conference room and next to the Bubbles relief.
RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE
Jenelle Blavat spoke to students during their lunch hours on Tuesday about the upcoming Blood Drive on Tuesday, May 13th. The student body was encouraged to get their adults to sign up, and the class with the most donors will receive Culver’s custard for their class.

YAY! Congratulations to our PLTW STEM teachers!
North Lake School has received recognition from PLTW as a 2024-25 Distinguished School for both it’s Launch and Gateway programs. This award recognizes schools across the U.S. for their efforts to provide broad access to transformative learning experiences for students through PLTW Launch programs, an elementary STEM curriculum.
Counseling Corner

Hello North Lake Families,
Our students at North Lake start early in exploring academic and career planning. This is a journey that evolves over time. Planning doesn’t mean students need to have all the answers right now. We work to help your child build self-awareness and exposure to as many career options as possible.
How do we do this?
Grade | Activity |
All grades | Career exploration, discussion of strengths and interests, connecting school skills to career skills, Junior Achievement lessons delivered by parent volunteers |
5th | Junior Achievement BizTown curriculum and field trip |
6th-8th | Use of Xello (online platform) to document interests and do career exploration |
8th | Waukesha Business Alliance career focused field trips |
A big thank you to our Junior Achievement volunteers for this year!

Let me know if you’d like to join the fun for next year! It’s a great opportunity to volunteer in your child’s classroom.
As always, let me know if there is anything I can do to support your child!
