Academic and Career Planning

Student Career Day
Student Career Day 2

According to the Wisconsin Department of Instruction, ACP (Academic and Career Planning) is intended to equip students and their families with the tools necessary to make more informed choices about postsecondary education, training, and careers for life after high school. It is part of DPI’s overall vision for every student to graduate high school academically, socially, emotionally, and life ready.

At North Lake School, we have two main objectives for student in grades K-8:
Career Exploration: Guide students to explore a wide range of careers in different fields and clusters
Self Awareness: Guide students to explore personal strengths and interests and their relation to career choice

In grades 6-8, students utilize Xello, a college and career readiness software to create a portfolio that will follow them to high school and help with future planning. Parents and guardians are an integral part of this process, so there will be assignments that involve students sharing portfolios with their parents/guardians.

If you have any questions, would like a parent log in for Xello, or would like to share your career with our students, please contact Jill Lesch, School Counselor at lesjil@northlakeschool.org.
