Family Events
North Lake School, with the help of the North Lake Education Foundation (NLEF), hosts at least one family-centric event each month that school is in session.
Please visit supportnls.org for event dates and details.
In addition to the NLEF events listed, the school also features:
Park Play Dates
New families to North Lake School are invited to summer play dates at the park. Our new family liaison schedules a monthly summer play date to help acclimate new families and make friends! Please look for information in your registration packet for park details.
Open House
As a back to school activity, North Lake School hosts an open house early in the school year. This event is a nice time for students to meet teachers and see their classrooms.
Book Fair
A week long scholastic book sale hosted by the PBC in the fall and spring. Proceeds from the sale provide one free book for every North Lake School student along with fulfilling teacher and library requests.
Fall Fest
This fall event is full of fun and excitement. Fun and crazy characters come in Halloween costumes while the Scholastic Book Fair is open. Parents are encouraged to dress up too, but it’s optional. Face painting and dance with a fabulous DJ will be there so you can kick up your heels and do the Monster Mash!
STEAM Fair
The NLS STEAM FAIR starts with a passport to technology, manufacturing, and science. Families experience the green screen, laser engraver, coding, and more. It is a wonderful chance to learn more about the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Mathematics) opportunities that permeate our school building and enrich the lives of students every day.
Veteran's Brunch
An annual event to honor both our local veterans as well as any veteran of a student. The Veteran’s Day Celebration is held in November each year. The morning begins with breakfast, followed by a middle school band concert.
All students write letters or cards to give to the veterans in attendance during “mail call”. One of the favorite parts for the veterans is receiving these personal letters and notes. Any extra letters/notes are delivered to veterans not able to attend from nursing homes etc.
Literacy Lights the Night
A great program for our students to explore the life of being a writer. This program enhances the literary concepts learned in classroom instruction. Generating ideas and putting those ideas into a original literary work of art. In an organized group setting the children read their stories to each other and receive words of encouragement for their hard work. Students can look back on this wonderful experience for years to come.
Mother/Son Event
A spectacular event for mothers and their sons to play games and have fun together. An evening filled with scavenger hunts, gym games, relays and pizza to top off the evening in the life of boys and their moms. Bring TONS of energy!
Visual Art Show and Vocal Concert
During the fine arts month (March), we host a huge concert with the entire student body in the big gym. An art show completes the night and individual student art work may be purchased.
Father/Daughter Dance
Shouldn’t every father have a fancy date night with their daughter? Make lasting memories with your daughter. Get dressed up, go out to dinner and end this special night out with your daughter at the Father/Daughter Dance. The school cafeteria becomes the dance floor with a DJ taking requests.
Holiday Concerts and Holiday Lights Contest
Please join us to kick off the holiday season with a heartwarming K-4 grade vocal concert and community tree lighting every December.
Outdoor Band Concert and Family Picnic
A Booster Committee tradition, students purchase raffle tickets all week long at lunch time hoping to win an item. The drawing takes place during the annual family picnic lunch.
Teacher Appreciation Week
We love our NLS teachers! During the first week of May, the NLEF sponsors a teacher appreciation week with many special touches such as meals, massage, raffle, and more!
Volunteers are always needed to help pamper our superior teaching staff!
